Art Around, Korean Artist’s art tour service, is pleased to present a Naoshima tour. On Naoshima, you will find Benesse House, a hotel operated by Benesse Holdings. This highly sought-after property is fully booked year-round and can be notoriously difficult to reserve. Benesse House features three accommodation wings—Park, Museum, and Oval. Among them, the Oval Wing is the very first guest wing created at Benesse House and consists of only six rooms in total (2 suites and 4 twin rooms).
The Oval Wing was built on the very spot where Chairman Fukutake once stood, looking out over the Seto Inland Sea, and resolved, “In this beautiful natural setting, we must create a place where people can experience art.” For that reason, there is special significance in viewing the Seto Inland Sea from the same angle he once did. Guests can reach the Oval Wing via a dedicated mini-train available exclusively to Benesse House Museum guests. Staying in the Oval Wing also comes with the privilege of enjoying the Benesse House Museum during the quiet hours before opening and after closing, allowing for an especially private and immersive experience. In addition, the guest rooms feature mural works by artists who participated in the Naoshima Project from its earliest days, including Richard Long and James Turrell.
This itinerary includes visits to the Benesse House Museum, Chichu Art Museum, and Lee Ufan Museum on Naoshima, as well as the Art House Project and the new museum that opened in 2025. To make the journey to Teshima—where coordinating ferry schedules can be challenging—smooth and unhurried, we travel by private charter boat, giving you ample time to enjoy the Teshima Art Museum and Christian Boltanski’s Les Archives du Cœur (Archives of the Heart).
