Art Sohyang introduces two promising young artists in Busan, Sungbin Gam and Junseok Kang, through the exhibition 《Adult's fairy tale》 from June 7th (Thursday) to July 7th (Saturday), 2018. It is an exhibition where you can see the two artists' new paintings, from sculptures to installations, that cross genres and show their unique world.
The story of the virtues and abilities of introverts has been studied only recently, but since the development of human civilization, people have thought that being bright, active, sociable, and 'extroverted' is the quality of a successful person. Naturally, children have always been forced to look bright and happy, and adults who have been raised with such education seem to believe that it is true adulthood to show only joy and happiness while hiding emotions such as sadness behind.
Artists Sungbin Gam and Junseok Kang seriously consider the purity of the work itself and the connection with the audience rather than the social role of art. The two writers tell us that to modern people who are suffering from the obsession that they should always show only bright and happy images, there is a way to feel true 'joy' only when there is 'sadness'. It will be a time to meet purely not only the emotions of joy, but also the emotions of sadness that we were afraid to reveal because we are adults.
