Invisible City

Oct 06 - Nov 07, 2026

Now Live

Art SoHyang presents Invisible City, an exhibition featuring Jieun Park(b. 1987), Beomsik Won(b. 1972), and Hyunjun Lee(b. 1982), from October 6 (Tue) to November 7 (Sat), 2026. The exhibition explores the multiple layers of the city through the distinct perspectives and practices of three artists.

Taking its title from the book by Italian writer Italo Calvino (1923–1985), Invisible Cities does not seek to reproduce the cities that exist before our eyes. Instead, each artist recalls and interprets the city in their own way, transforming it into a new landscape shaped by memory, imagination, and experience.

Jieun Park reinterprets cities encountered during her travels as inner landscapes infused with her own memories and emotions. Through his ARCHISCULPTURE series, Beomsik Won deconstructs existing architectural structures and recombines them to create imaginary architecture and cities. Hyunjun Lee turns his gaze toward spaces that are soon to disappear through redevelopment and demolition, tracing the memories and traces left behind by a changing city. Rather than mourning their disappearance, his work reflects on the memories accumulated within them, revealing the city as an organic entity in a constant process of creation and disappearance.

For these three artists, the city is not simply a physical space, but an act of imagination; not merely architecture, but memory; and ultimately, a landscape that resides within the human mind. Through their diverse ways of seeing and interpreting the city, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the ‘invisible cities’ that exist within their own memories.
