Soonik KWON, born in 1959, is an artist based in Seoul, South Korea. His media include mixed-media paintings and installations, combining fine sands, charcoal, and acrylic colours to create an oriental texture. KWON's main inspiration is his calm, ego-free process of making art through his choices of delicate light and colour. He graduated in Fine Arts from Sejong University and has since shown his mixed-media works in more than 30 solo exhibitions and over 50 group exhibitions, including numerous local and international shows, mainly across North and South America and Europe.
In 2008, KWON participated in residency programmes in Spain and at the Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art in Korea. Institutions such as the Museo Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) in Venezuela, the Sungnam Art Centre in Korea, the Cosmo Art Gallery in Spain, and the Museo de Arte del Tolima in Colombia have collected and displayed his works. Currently, his works are held in private collections in China and Singapore
