Art SoHyang is pleased to present 《Antikythera》-Reflections on Eternity and Transience, a solo exhibition by its represented artist Kim Min-Song, running from December 12, 2024, to January 4, 2025. The exhibition takes its name and inspiration from the Antikythera Mechanism, an ancient Greek device believed to be the first astronomical computer, created to calculate celestial movements. This marks Kim Min-Song’s first exhibition following her residency in Greece and Italy last year. During this period, the artist identified herself with the Antikythera Mechanism, collecting and visualizing natural phenomena and objects she encountered. The exhibition will feature approximately 50 works that embody her reflections.
Kim Min-Song has long been celebrated for her evocative portrayals of nature, creating immersive scenes of deserts or gardens under skies ablaze with starlight. Her works have evolved through a series of landscapes: the 'Desert Night' series, inspired by Morocco; the 'Oasis' series, depicting California’s expansive deserts; the 'Island' series, influenced by Slovenia’s Lake Bled Castle; and the 'Wildflower' series, capturing the resilient beauty of blooms in harsh environments. Through her art, she reinterprets and shares the essence of the natural world, offering a profound and poetic vision of its wonders.
