From Saturday, Nov. 2 to Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, Art SoHyang will hold a solo exhibition 《Here》 by Kwon Soon-ik (b.1959~), who is growing and drawing attention in the international market by modern interpretation of Korea's unique colors. This exhibition is his first solo exhibition of abstract works in 2013 and the fourth solo exhibition at Art SoHyang since the opening of Art SoHyang's 《Absence of Ego-無我》 exhibition in 2013. It will showcase a new series of installations including 'Pile up&Rub(積·硏),' which shows cotton and colors, 'Line,' and roof tiles, along with works that express light, which are the beginning of abstract work. The title of the exhibition, 'Here,' is an indicator referring to a physical place or an immaterial point, and it contains the past and the future while having the present. The sentence "It started from here" has a complex perspective that starts from the past and proceeds to the future at the same time. It is a word in harmony with the "Line" series, which is introduced after 10 years of working as an abstract artist, and implies a concept that continues constantly.

It starts with a point (Absence of Ego) that expresses the light of coal dust and the Yoon-seul reflected in the stream, and expands to a line through the color plane (Pile up&Rub) that shows him going through the past, present, and future to find himself. Unlike Absence of Ego(無我) or Pile up&Rub(積·硏), Line series tried to remove philosophical concepts and express the free flow of good. As an abstract artist, this solo exhibition 《Here》 seems to be the end of a chapter, and it can be said that it is the beginning of a true artist Kwon Soon-ik. It started 'from here,' and now 'here' is the artist Kwon Soon-ik in these works, and it is expected that it will be an exhibition to go on the road again 'from here.'
